A Comfortable Choice

Did you know that at-home euthanasia is an option? At-home euthanasia is just as safe and painless for your pet as visiting your veterinarian's office, and it keeps your pet where they feel most secure and most comfortable—at home. Our staff veterinarian will come to your home, guide your family through the process and carefully transport your precious pet back to our Memorial Center.

Is at-home euthanasia right for me?

At-home euthanasia provides comfort and helps to minimize the stress and grief from the loss of a pet. You and your family are given all the time and space you need to be with your pet before, during and after the euthanasia process in the warmth and privacy of your own home. Our compassionate and supportive team of veterinarians and Heart’s Companion Memorial Center staff are solely focused on providing you with the personal experience your family needs to help ease the pain of losing a cherished family member.

What are some of the common concerns/worries/misconceptions about at-home euthanasia?

How do I know I’m really getting my pet back?

Heart's Companion uses a custom system of scannable tags that go through several checkpoints while your pet is in our care. This allows us to ensure with 100% confidence that your pet is always returned safely to your home. We also offer the opportunity to privately view your pet’s cremation - please call to schedule in advance.

How do I know it’s time to euthanize my pet?

The hardest part of euthanasia is knowing when it is time. You will know when they lose the spark in their eye and are existing, but are no longer living their outgoing, energetic, playful lives. Also, if your pet is in pain or suffering from a diagnosed terminal illness it may be time to consider home-hospice care or at-home euthanasia. We suggest you always consult a veterinarian when trying to determine the right course of action for your pet.

Why is at-home euthanasia right for me and my pet?

At-home euthanasia allows you to be in the comfort and privacy of your own home during your final moments with your cherished pet. You may take as much time as you need with your pet throughout the entire process so that your family and your pet can have a peaceful & intimate transition together.
